Race Preview Dubuque Greyhound Park: Iowa Breeders' Cup Round 3 - Thursday October 24, 2013
There are only two greyhounds that have made it through the first three rounds of the Iowa Breeders' Cup undefeated: Killer Carew and WW's Hay Maker. Races 5, 10 and 12 are the qualifying races on tonight's card. Let's take a look at the entries and handicapping info for each race.
Race 5 1-Improv (Hardison & Hambleton Kennel) 2-DS Claimer (XTREM Racing) 3-CH Keepin Faith (Blanchard- Calabro Kennel) 4-Astardeckofcards (Copper Kettle Kennel) 5-JD Grand Master (Stidham Racing LLC) 6-BS Rock and Roll (Pat C Greyhound Kennel) 7-VJ Onthemove (Oxbow-Trow Kennel) 8-Superior Peace (Superior Kennel)
7-VJ Onthemove ran a very fast race from the 6 box two races back with a 30.86. 8-Superior Peace can score from the outside or inside and is consistently in the top grade and frequently in exotics. 4-Astardeckofcards is better than she looks when she's inside the 5 box. 5-JD Grand Master lacks class, but has speed to spare.
Race 10 1-KM Rage (Jackson Greyhounds LLC) 2-WW's Hay Maker (Bartley Corp and Wayne R) 3-Superior Brinks (Superior Kennel) 4-JF Callin Radar (Jackson Greyhounds LLC) 5-Loretta Baby (Copper Kettle Kennel) 6-L's Beach Bride (Boeckenstedt Kennel) 7-Superior Product (Superior Kennel) 8-JD Heat Seeker (Stidham Kennel)
7-Superior Product is going for a record tonight. With 25 wins, he only needs one more to surpass Hart Burn's season's best back in 1999. He won his last race by 8 lengths and has only been out of the money once this year. 8-JD Heat Seeker likes his spot and might hit the board again from the 8 box. 4-JF Callin Radar is a strong exotics play and both the 1-KM Rage and 2-WW's Hay Maker will be gunning for the lead early. Tough race to handicap, but a good one to watch.
Race 12 1-WW's Responder (Bartley Corp and Wayne R) 2-AJ Cheramieamour (Jackson Greyhounds LLC) 3-CH Shakeur Booty (Blanchard-Calabro Kennel) 4-Superior Panama (Superior Kennel) 5-Killer Carew (Superior Kennel) 6-Superior Marine (Superior Kennel) 7-Princess Maddy (Copper Kettle Kennel) 8-Boc's Mileycyrus (Boeckenstedt Kennel)
5-Killer Carew has had it all her own way in the first three rounds of this contest. She looks to be the one to beat in this race, as well. 6-Superior Marine might have something to say about that though, because he's just as contentious and tenacious as she is, with some good times showing lately. Then there's 4-Superior Panama, another speedball, that can also close if necessary. This might be one of those races that's decided by the first turn, or it might be a closer's race if the speed burns each other out.
Sunday is closing day for Dubuque for the season and features two other races, as well as the final round of this stakes. The Secretary's Choice and the Au Revoir will both have entries chosen by the racing secretary and promise to be good wagering opportunities.
As always, safe trips and good racing luck to all the entries on tonight's program. Don't forget to watch and wager on Bet America, where greyhound programs are free and bonus tracks pay rewards.
