Free picks for Ellis Park by Joe Kristufek

Race 4

#5 Dance Rhythms (6/1 ML)

A model of consistency in turf sprints, she’s held her own against tough competition this entire year. She has a pair of 2019 wins to her credit, including a sharp, stalk and pounce victory last out while dashing over the Indiana Grand turf. She should enjoy a similar trip against comparable foes here.

Race 5

#4 Bonnet (5/1 ML)

Has tried a little bit of everything in her young career and is still trying to find her niche. Hung 5-wide from an outside post behind a pair of talented foes last out, she returns to the main track here. Posted a bullet work for this and may be ready to put it all together.

Race 9

#2 Gold Standard (9/5 ML)

$1.2 million yearling buy appears to be coming into her own off consecutive romping wins. Trainer Brad Cox and the formidable ownership team obviously want to keep her confidence up before potentially testing deeper waters. She’s a filly with great potential and I fully expect her to put on another show in this one. You won’t get anywhere close to the 9/5 morning line, so take the free space in the multi-race wagers and leave it at that.

Single in multi-race wagers.

Race 10

#2 Gold Star Mama (3/1 ML)

It looks like it could be a “golden” late double at Ellis. Dismissed on debut at odds of 11/1, she broke a bit awkwardly and showed good natural speed throughout. Pressing into a hot pace early, she took full command off the turn for home, only to be run down late by a solid winner. She gets a seven-pound break in the weights with the red hot apprentice Declan Carroll aboard and looks like a standout here.

Single in multi-race wagers.
