How to Win

This Promotion is offered by Churchill Downs Technology Initiatives Company (“TwinSpires”).
Opt in is required. Players can opt into the promotion at any time. Players must have a verified TwinSpires advance deposit wagering account, be in good standing and reside in a state where wagering services are offered to participate. Employees of Churchill Downs Technology Initiatives Company, its parent, affiliates, and subsidiaries, and members of their immediate family or persons living in the same household are ineligible to participate in this promotion.
This promotion runs from December 26 – April 15 and will apply to every Kentucky Derby Prep Race during this period.
Qualifying wagers for this promotion will apply to players first straight single Win wager of $25 or more placed on each eligible race. “Win/Place,” “Win/Place/Show,” and “Win/Show” wagers do not count as eligible wagers. Offer will not apply to wagers made prior to opt in. If a qualifying wager is placed on a horse that scratches, the player will receive zero points for that race if the player does not place another wager.
Players may wager more than $25, but no additional points will be awarded, and points will not be awarded on non-Win wagers or on any Win wagers other than the first Win wager placed on each eligible race. “Win/Place,” “Win/Place/Show,” and “Win/Show” wagers do not count as eligible wagers. BetShare wagers do not count as eligible wagers.
Wagers made on horses who are not eligible to receive Kentucky Derby points will not qualify to earn points in the Leaderboard Contest.
The Leaderboard points system will be the same as The Road to the Kentucky Derby points system, with points awarded for wagers placed on horses that finish in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th place. The list of all prep races along with the points for each eligible prep race can be seen HERE and will be updated in the event of postponements or other changes to the prep race schedule.
Leaderboard points will be awarded to players for placing a winning bet on each eligible prep race. Selections that place in 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th will also be awarded points.
If your selection wins you get the designated points for (1st place), if your horse runs 2nd you get the points designated for (2nd place), if your horse runs 3rd you get the points designated for (3rd place), if your horse runs 4th you get the points designated for (4th place), and if your horse runs 5th you get the points designated for (5th place).
The top 100 players on the leaderboard at the end of the promotion will receive a share of the $100,000.
The top two (2) players in the promotion will receive a cash prize and a VIP trip to the 2023 Kentucky Derby.
The prize breakdown for the promotion is noted below.
If the top two (2) winning players do not wish to or cannot attend the Kentucky Derby, we will substitute the Derby VIP trip with $4,000 in additional prize money.
The leaderboard will be updated weekly on Monday’s during the promotional period.
Each week the eligible prep races will be listed below.

Leaderboard points system

The points system is based on The Road to Kentucky Derby Points system. Each prep race is different with some races worth more than others.
The List of all prep races and how much each race is worth in points is listed HERE.
The Leaderboard will be displayed on the TwinSpires Edge and can be seen HERE.
The leaderboard will display the top 100 players by the players’ first names and the state of residence. The leaderboard will be updated weekly.
The top 100 players on the leaderboard will be announced on Monday, April 17, 2023 when the results are final, and winning players will be contacted directly. The leaderboard and final results will be determined by the number of points awarded for qualifying wagers based upon the Road to the Kentucky Derby points system as described above after all eligible races have been deemed official by the respective host racetracks.
Should the promotion end in a tie for any prize, the winner will be decided based on the highest number of first placed wagers made on each prep race. If more than one player at the top has the same amount of first placed wagers, it will be decided on the amount of 2nd place, 3rd place, 4th place and 5th place wagers made, in that order. If the promotion is still a tie, ties will be broken based upon which player(s) opted into the promotion first.
The leaderboard and all results remain unofficial until the final results have been confirmed and are posted. Players are encouraged to maintain an accurate record of their wagers and accumulated points.

Additional Details:

TwinSpires will credit the winnings as cash into winning players accounts. TwinSpires reserves the right to substitute prize(s) of comparable value if a Prize listed is unavailable for any reason. Winners shall be solely responsible for all federal, state and/or local taxes, and the reporting consequences thereof, and for any other fees or costs associated with the applicable prize. A winner may be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Release, and (where imposing such condition is legal) a Publicity Release. If any winner fails or refuses to sign and return all required documents, such Winner may be disqualified and forfeit all prizes. The approximate retail value of each prize is equal to the designated dollar amount above plus, where applicable, $4,000 if a VIP trip to the Kentucky Derby for two is included.

VIP Trip Details

TwinSpires will provide the top two (2) winners plus one guest each a trip for two to the 2023 Kentucky Derby on May 6, 2023. In addition to premium tickets located in the courtyard at Churchill Downs for Kentucky Oaks Day on May 5, 2023 and Kentucky Derby Day on May 6, 2023, the grand prize also includes roundtrip airfare and a three nights stay in the Homewood Suites from May 4-7, 2023.

Additional Terms:

This offer is valid with opt in only. By opting in to this offer, you provide your consent for your first name and state of residence to be displayed on the leaderboard on the TwinSpires Edge blog and in other TwinSpires online communications, such as via social media. The offer is valid from December 26, 2023 – April 15, 2023 only. Wagers placed prior to opt in will not count towards this offer. Residents of certain states may be unable to place qualifying wagers on Kentucky Derby Prep Races at certain tracks; these individuals are eligible for the promotion but will be unable to earn points on any unavailable races. Winners will be declared and winnings will be credited to the player's account as cash on Monday, April 17, 2023. In the event of a cancellation or postponement to the Kentucky Derby or if fans are not allowed to attend the event, the winner will be credited with an additional $4,000 in cash to the value of the VIP trip stated. BetShare wagers will not count toward this offer. Certain exclusions apply. All management decisions are final. This promotion is void where prohibited by law. By opting in to the promotion you fully and unconditionally agree to these terms and conditions and decisions of TwinSpires management, which are final and binding in all matters related to this promotion.

TwinSpires reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who is found to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the promotion, to be acting in violation of these terms and conditions, or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with the intent to disrupt or undermine the legitimate operation of the promotion, or to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person, and TwinSpires reserves the right to seek damages and other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.
