Race Preview Orange Park: 2013 Jacksonville Juvenile Stakes on Friday Evening, November 22nd
The young guns will be out in force at Orange Park on Friday evening, November 22nd, for the running of the Jacksonville Juvenile Stakes. The seven stakes races are races 4, 5, 7, 10, 11, 12 and 15. It's a mix of grades and abilities, but these pups are all maturing and you never know when one will suddenly improve and spark a big win, exacta and trifecta payoff.
The 4th race has two interesting entries, both at 3/1 in the ML. Pat C Gift WW was very impressive when he won from the rail post two races ago by six and a half lengths. Not sure how he'll do from the outside box, but he has the early speed to get out there and shoot for the lead if he wants to. If he looks over his shoulder, he may see WW's Pour It On closing on him from the six box if he can get into position.
In the 5th, Pat C Buckaroo should have a good shot from the 1 box with GS Daisy May taking advantage of the 2 box to run with him. The third inside dog, WW Ringlet in the 3 box might even get into the mix in spite of her lack of experience if she can avoid trouble. If she can't, perhaps WW's Just Enough will live up to her class level and beat them all to the wire.
The 7th race has a young dog from owner Julia Ward, someone who is no stranger to the winner's circle at Orange Park. WW's Zinc has zipped up the grade ladder with very few missteps and may like the room he has to maneuver from the outside post. If the 2-CRV's Stafford repeats her first to the turn by multiple lengths, as she did in her last race, it could be all she wrote for the rest of the field. Pat C Gamer is always game, so don't count her out either.
In race 10, 2-Pat C Gatsby, the winner of the Mayflower Melee, is certainly a force to be reckoned with in spite of some recent trouble. I see his main threats coming from the 3 outside posts: 6-Owe Nomo, who showed in the Mayflower Melee final, 7-WWK Money Maker and 8-Kiowa Seed, who won by 12 lengths from the 7 box in Grade D.
Look at 4-Royal Snowflake in the 11th race. Three wins in her last three races and none at less than 4 lengths ahead of the pack. Five out of eight for wins and one show. Very impressive. 2-GS Not Cracker with early speed, stakes experience and good post position might be part of the exotics. 4-Tomco Padfoot, while not classy, just posted a nine and a half length win in Grade D, which might have him ready to bring his A game to this one.
In race 12, another Julia Ward owned entry, 7-WW's Chick A Dee seems to be rounding back into midseason form and may post a win here. Wouldn't it be interesting if longshot 8-Nellie's Vixen ran right along with her? Not impossible, but still a longshot.
Race 15 is tough to call. I like the 1-Bostonstrongiris to burst out of the rail post and take the inside for herself, like her daddy, Extruding Dream used to do in his heyday. If she stays inside and doesn't take the midtrack route that gets her in trouble, she can get the job done here. 2-WW Who Am I with 6 wins out of 12 races will be gunning for her and for the lead and the win with her classy background.
Safe trips and good racing luck to all the runners on tonight's Orange Park card. Don't forget to watch, wager and get your free greyhound programs on Bet America, where bonus tracks pay rewards.
